The minotaur has been slain.
Now. How the hell do I get outta this maze???
Alright. Since the show finished its run a couple of weeks ago several people have asked me a variation on the question, “Are you glad it’s over?” My answer is mixed. I love the show. I loved acting in it. I loved having a hand in creating it. But often times I did not love producing it. Or, at least I did not love certain aspects of producing it. We tried a number of things in an effort to build a larger audience for this show, and UnSpun in general – such as only starting with a two week run with the possibility of an extension, and a character blog, etc. – some worked and some didn’t. It’s frustrating. I’m not sure how else to go about getting people out to see the work we create. I know that publicity and audience building are not necessarily my strengths as a producer, but I thought this show would draw a bigger crowd. Now, don’t get me wrong, we were successful. I haven’t checked, but we probably had more people come to this one then to any other UnSpun show. But I thought, with this show, we’d be able to draw some of that elusive non-theatre going audience.
Who knows, if we keep going with this show, maybe we still will. Maybe we'll try a tour, a mino-tour, if you will.
